Tadelakt Ultra

Tadelakt is one of the lost arts of our generation that has been slowly making its return to the building industry. This product has been researched by Trevor for over a decade and he has always been fascinated by its unique properties and beauty. We are now making a second offering of this system that is updated for the 21^st century and can be used for exterior stucco, hood ranges, fireplaces, walls etc. This system is an alternative for wet rooms as well and requires the same care and attention of not using any cleaners but black soap or bronners soap, and a once every 6 months to a year reseal with Stain shield.  

 

The formulation of this Tadelakt Ultra is no longer 100% natural and does contain hidden additives that make the system easier to use, and with updated adhesion, compressive strength and freeze thaw stability. The Tadelakt Ultra is composed of AHL (artificial hydraulic lime), fine marble sand, methylcellulose, polymers and special additives and increased dosages of Pozzolan all in very specific ratios to ensure a strong, workable, easily applied and shiny surface.

 

This system uses inside showers:

1 coat Tadelakt Adhesion coat

2 coats Venetian Italian Plaster Basecoat coarse

3 coats Tadelakt Ultra in same day with polishing

(allow to dry one week)

3 layers stain shield wet on wet and allow to fully dry

1 final layer stain shield following day

Mechanical polishing with wool bonnet or by hand with microfiber rags or both

 

 

This system uses for exteriors over stucco:

1 coat quartz primer diluted 50% with water

1 coat Venetian Italian Plaster Basecoat fine

2 coats Tadelakt Ultra in same day with polishing

(allow to dry one week)

3 layers stain shield wet on wet and allow to fully dry

1 final layer stain shield following day.

Mechanical polishing with wool bonnet or by hand with microfiber rags or both

 

 

This system uses over pva primed drywall (hood range, feature wall)

1 coat quartz primer

1 coat Venetian Italian Plaster Basecoat fine

2 coats Tadelakt Ultra in same day with polishing

(one day dry time)

3 layers stain shield wet on wet and allow to fully dry

1 final layer stain shield following day.

Mechanical polishing with wool bonnet or by hand with microfiber rags or both

 

 

This system uses over drywall and cement board for zero clearance fireplace:

1 coat quartz primer diluted 1-1 with water over raw drywall and cement board taped in and finished with proset 60 (hot mud for strength).

1 coat quartz primer undiluted

Eifs mesh applied around opening of the fireplace

2 coats Venetian Italian plaster basecoat fine

2 coats Tadelakt Ultra applied in same day and polished

(One day dry time)

3 layers stain shield wet on wet and allow to fully dry

1 final layer stain shield following day.

Mechanical polishing with wool bonnet or by hand with microfiber rags or both

 

Recommended for areas that are stable, sound and not flexible with moving joints.

 

Recommended for residential shower walls, floors, ceilings, fireplaces, backsplashes, exterior stucco, hood ranges, feature walls, steam rooms etc

 

TIP: DURING THE FINAL BURNISHING STAGES OF THE TADELAKT, BALL SOME SOFT PLASTIC UP WITH LABELS INSIDE IF USING BAGS AND POLSH THE PLASTER. 3M HAND MASKING PLASTIC WORKS VERY WELL. IF THE PLASTIC IS TOO STIFF IT WILL SCRATCH THE PLASTER.
